NeuroMind 1.3 update

NeuroMind, the #1 ranked neurosurgical iPhone app from the App Store, will receive a minor update, to add the WFNS SAH score and the ASIA Muscle grading system. The new version has been uploaded to the App Store, and is expected to be available in a few days. Of course, it is still available for free.

As you will read in the “What is new” notes, this is my last planned update for NeuroMind 1.x. It has been downloaded more than 30,000 times since its release, and I am very proud of that. But I also realize there is clearly room for improvement. From talking to many users I learned that students mostly use the anatomical images and sometimes DDx, and medical doctors almost exclusively use the scores (including myself).

So the new version will have a different emphasis. I intend to keep at least a part of the anatomical images, as I find them helpful when explaining patients about their disease. I am not sure about the current DDx category, many people even did not know about the mindmaps… Which is another lesson: auto-rotation is nice, but also dangerous. Users may not be able to find your content!

Well… I could go on talking about my ideas, but I think I’d better turn them into reality and show them to you. On iPhone, but also on iPad and even on Android! To get a short impression of what NeuroMind 2 will be, take a look at these (alpha version) screenshots (click to enlarge). Content is limited, I am still experimenting with technical options.
