Official announce: Programming for Physicians – crash course

I have been thinking about this for a while and I am glad to make the official announcement now: starting from January 2 I will offer a introductory course in computer programming, focusing on physicians! Not exactly the kind of profession who is active in this field, and I think there are many missed opportunities for…Continue Reading…

WordPress 4.0 + NextGEN 1.9.13 = excellent!

After having experienced severe problems with NextGEN galleries after updating to version 2.x I used these simple instructions to downgrade to version 1.9.13. Despite the warning on the instruction site, things work as a charm and turn out to be fully compatible with WP 4.0. Quote from the instructions: IMPORTANT NOTE! Rolling back to 1.9.13…Continue Reading…

NeuroMind on iPhone 6 / iOS8

I just checked in the development environment and according to my tests, NeuroMind should work fine on iPhone 6 (Plus) and iOS8. Have not been able to test on actual device as I postponed upgrading due to many reported issues on the web. Let me know if you encounter any difficulties.

Temporary problem with image galleries

After upgrading to WordPress 3.9.2 (as a critical security issue was detected with previous versions) with NextGEN 2.0.66.17 posts cannot be opened with the plugin activated. If I disable the plugin, the site works normal (obviously without galleries) but if I enable it, just the homepage works but I cannot access any post. Which means I…Continue Reading…

Safe Surgery app being updated

To get some hands-on experience with the current tools I have been using the excellent iOS Apprentice Series from RayWenderlich.com written by Matthijs Hollemans. Now I am…Continue Reading…

NeuroMind 2.5 on its way

The upcoming CE-marked version of NeuroMind is on its way. For the release I completed the decision support items that I want to include directly. Other ones I can easily add later because the content is now loaded from the web. One thing that I still had to do was to implement a manual refresh…Continue Reading…

Decision support: PHASES score

I just created a new decision support item for NeuroMind, the first using the new webbased technology that I described before.  It is based on a recent article in The Lancet Neurology by Greving et al. on the 5-year rupture risk of cerebral aneurysms. It uses the PHASES score for risk estimation, which is an…Continue Reading…

NeuroMind 2.5 – loading online content

In my previous post I described some changes I am implementing in NeuroMind to be compliant with FDA and EU (MEDDEV) directives and to get CE marked. The most important issue that needs to be solved is the ability to update the app quickly in case of an error, and for that reason I decided…Continue Reading…

NeuroMind 2.5 – what is happening?

I have started to work on NeuroMind 2.5, which will replace the current (2.2) version. Why 2.5? Because it will be an intermediate step in something very important: CE marking. US people may be familiar with the FDA guideline on mobile medical applications, and in Europe we have the CE mark. According to the official…Continue Reading…
