Running WordPress 3.3

Just upgraded to WordPress 3.3 including all plugins and the new NextGen gallery database… it seems to be running smoothly, and has some nice improvements.

I just found out that the new media uploader seems to be rather slow in Safari 5. Uploading a file goes well, but then I cannot get to the section where I can actually decide on image size and place it in the post. So in the end I uploaded the image “old style” with the classic browser uploader.

Further the Dashboard looks nice and clean, the new admin bar is useful, and -fortunately- I do not need my backup at the moment! :-)

Last but not least I activated the Akismet plugin, for better spam protection in the comments section. I have used it with excellent results for the blog Surgical Neurology International the last year. Besides better spam protection it also removed the need for a CAPTCHA – another advantage.
